Hi
Thank you for your message.
The reality of finding documentation pertaining to births/baptisms/marriages/deaths in Ireland prior to 1800 ? particularly in rural areas ? is that they simply may not exist. Some registers for urban areas pre-dating 1800 may exist ? though often these can be fragmented- as there was an increased need in cities or larger towns to document the population. Please also note that the Church of Ireland was the official church of the country and therefore the bulk of information that does survive for earlier periods is often from these registers.
Church of Ireland parish registers for the period up to 1870-are public records. Registers are available for about one third of the parishes, however many were destroyed in the Public Records Office in Dublin in 1922. Most are still held by the local clergy, although some are in the National Archives of Ireland and others are in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin. A list of all surviving registers is available in the National Archives. http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/. The Anglican Record Project is has created an index to their records: http://ireland.anglican.org/cmsfiles/pdf/AboutUs/library/AngRecord/bunclodyunionindex.pdf

Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.
Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.

Hello - I realize your posting on John Clark is several years old now, but perhaps you will see this. I do have quite a bit of information on John Clarke and Anne Horsman, and I am most interested to see someone who is descended from that John Clark who emigrated to Massachusetts. If you see this and respond, we can certainly share information. There are other branches of the Clarke family in America - mine is from Anthony Clarke who was John's brother unless I am mistaken. THere are at least two other branches, but I think we are the only two from John and Anne. Best.

Hello - I was searching for information on Anne Horseman, her family and marriages and came upon this series of posts today. John Clark and Anne Horseman are my 8th great grandparents.
Have any of you taken DNA tests? I have taken yDNA-700, mtDNA and autosomal DNA tests. I took thuse tests because I am a sone of a Clark-Clark marriage. My maternal Clark family traces back to England, the paternal Clark family traces to various locations in and near Antrim, Northern Ireland but have been told that my y-DNA links to the area near Ayr, Scotland.
So far my family tree does not contain anything that links to Ayr, Scotland in the paternal Clark family.
i would be happy to compare notes and sources and I am a member of Ancestry, FindMyPast, and AmericanAncestors (NEHGS). My DNA test results are in FamilyTreeDNA, so maybe we can make some connections in our trees.
Regards, Hal
