Hi, I have been trying to find out where in Ireland my gg-grandfather, Richard Dillon, was from. All of his American records just say "Ireland."
Richard came to the US between 1860 & abt 1866. My best estimate for his birth year is abt 1835, and he died in Pennsylvania in 1893.
The only relative he had was a brother, Robert, b. abt 1847 in Ireland, and he died in 1890 in Pennsylvania.
The only other thing I know is that they were Catholics, and they both worked as laborers, probably in the coal mines.
That they came from Roscommon is just a hunch on my part. I just wanted to say "hi" and thank you all for what you are trying to do.

I to have been searching for my Dillon's. All I know Is my Robert Dillon was born In County Roscommon In about 1822. I have not been able to find out any more other then his birth,or about his 18 year's he lived In Ireland untill he left.He left In 1841,settled In Western,Ma,then died In Holland,Wisc In 1857. I think he had a twin brother named Thomas, who was living with him In Western Ma.There was a Michael Dillon living with thomas, who was born In 1837, who was close In age to your Dillon, but I know nothing of Michael. I think most of my Dillon's were from western County Roscommon or eastern County Mayo. Also a lot were from County Westmeath. I know my Dillon's were a little early than your's.
