Researching the Calwell family:
Dan Calwell is believed to have immigrated from Ulster to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA in the mid 1700s.
Dan Calwell (b. abt 1710) is believed to be the father of John Calwell (1735 Ire?-1804 PA, USA) and other unknown children.
John Calwell married Elenor and had 5 children:
- James Calwell (no marriage);
- Mary Calwell (m. ?Kasey?);
- Martha Calwell (1768-1843; m. John Shannon);
- Dan Calwell (1775-1836; m. 1. Elizabeth Woods and 2. Jane Huff);
- Elinor Calwell (1782-1807).
Any help or leads would be greatly appriciated in finding the area of origin, birth, marriage, death, and passenger/immigration records, as well as any other family history.
Thank you.

Hi
Thank you for your message.
The reality of finding surviving documentation for births/deaths or marriages in Ireland before the 19th century is that they may not actually exist. Church records for most of the island only begin circa 1800 and civil registration records begin in 1864.
Some sites you might try - if you haven't already are:

Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you.
Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.
Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
