Hi All

Does anyone have any idea how the Pye's of Redbrae and Kinlough in Co.Leitrim happened to settle in that area? The family originally bought land in the Cromwellian Land Settlement lottery. Richard and Phillip Pye bought 2 large plots next to each other in Leinster which was the most exspensive of the settlement areas. So, I can't understand why The Pye's should end up in Co. Leitrim!! I am also trying to find the link to England from Ireland but its very difficult.

Many thanks for any help

  • Hello there.

I know I'm replying to an extremely old post but thought I try anyway. I'm a Pye whose family comes mostly from Leinster (and some from east County Tipperary). I don't really know much about this part of my family. I'm doing research for my family tree and am looking to learn as much as I possibly can about their history. My branch of the family came to the United States around 1850 but I know some of the family stayed in Ireland. Were you ever able to make a connection between the Leinster Pyes and the ones in Leitrum? Also, where did you find the information about Phillip and Richard Pye and the 2 plots of land they purchased in Leinster? Very interesting stuff! I'd love to hear anything you learned.

    Thanks so much!
