I am of a descendant of Robert ROY, born about 1805, somewhere in County Down. The mother of his two older children was Sarah WALKER. The children born in Ireland were Sarah (b abt 1840) and Robert John (b abt 1844).
When found in the U.S. after immigration in 1847, he was married to a woman named
Margaret. They had Elizabeth, (my great-grandmother), listed as born at sea in 1847, and William (b.1850).
The family resided in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, where Robert was
Roller in the steel mills.
William Roy married Mary McCowan (McGowan), Elizabeth Roy married John Tencate, of English and Dutch descent, and Sarah Roy married William Hill. The McCowan’s and Hill’s were also natives of Ulster.
This family was closely associated with a Jane Warren, (born 1800 in Ireland) widow of Samuel, and her children. Her oldest child was William Everett Warren who married Elizabeth Reavy (Reevy) in Ireland.
Jane Warren is buried in a cemetery plot in Pittsburgh owned by James DOUGLASS, James WARREN, and Hugh WALLACE.
I would love to connect with anyone related to these families.
