Greetings All,
I recently learned that the first member of my family namesake came to America from Ireland. Unfortunately I do not kow where in Ireland he came from.
From a genealogical society here in the U.S. I obtained the following information about him:
JOHN DEMORSE ORIGINAL SETTLER was born in 1713 in IRELAND
JOHN died on 7 Jun 1798 at the age of 85 in FRIENDSHIP, KNOX CTY., ME.
He emigrated from IRELAND.INTENDINGTO JOIN WILLIAM PENN'S COLONY BUT WERE SHIPWRECKED OFF OF THE GRAND BANKS. ALLPASSENGERSWERE SAVED, BUT ALL OF THEIR BELONGINGSWERE LOST. ORIGINALLY LANDING NEARPRESENT DAY MOUNT DESERT ISLAND, THEY TRAVELLED SOUTH TO WARREN ME,WHERE THEY FOUND3 CABINS, THEN MEDUNCOOK (NOW FRIENDSHIP,WHICH HAD THE FAMILIES OF BRADFORD ANDCARVER ALREADY). EARLY IN THE 18OO'S THIS FRENCH HUGUENOTFAMILY GRADUALLY ALTERED THE SPELLING FROM DEMORES TO MORSE. Thank you in advance if anyone has any information! Best regards, Brian MorseMichigan, U.S.A.

Hi
Realistically Ireland wouldnt have records for the colonists but I will give you a website that you may find helpful
British parliamentary papers on Ireland can be found at: http://eppi.dippam.ac.uk/documents/9824/eppi_pages/215093
The National Archives UK – genealogy search: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/

Many huguenots only used Ireland as a stepping stone, most arrived in England first then came to Ireland for a short while and then on to the USA.
You might be able to find more information on the website from the Huguenot Society from Britain and Ireland http://www.huguenotsociety.org.uk/
