Hi Mary
In the 1911 Census the "Monaghan" surname in Tallagh appears to be the Head Sister of Mercy (Religious Order)
In the 1901 Census this is the Monaghan Family living there

In Griffiths Valuations 1850's (you can search the Map's to locate the townland by using the Ref No on the listing)
http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml?action=doNam…
In the Tithe Applotments in 1831 there are Monaghans living in "Tallagh Stripe"

This site has a lot of information on North Mayo
Good Luck with your research, Mary.

I've seen the Tithe Applotments and Griffiths Valuation, Since they left Ireland in 1883, I hadn't thought to look in later census years. Thanks for the help.
