Hello. I'm trying to find information on the following :-
John O'Brien, son of Charles O'Brien, publican, and Anne Wilson. He was born at Six Mile Bridge circa 1849.
John came to "Australia" , was married to Sarah Hennessy in Brisbane , Queensland when he was 24 and she was 23 in 1873.
They are connected to my family in some way as Mr and Mrs John O'Brien were listed in the funeral notice for my great grandmother in 1900 in Charters Towers, North Queensland.
Their children are :-
Charles Patrick 1874
John Joseph 1875
Thomas Henry 1877
Jospeh Michael 1879
James Edward 1881
Please note that this list may not be complete.
Hoping that this may help someone who is wondering where a family member went.

Hi Wendy, thanks for sharing this on the Ireland Reaching Out Message board.
Have you tried looking for information in Church Records? With regards to Catholic records, most are held locally. One website which may be of use to however, is the irishtimes website where it gives you an overview of what records are available in a particular parish. If you follow this link it will show you what is available for the Sixmilebridge parish:
For Church of Ireland websites you should check http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/
You could also try searching for the family in the 1901 and 1911 census records here: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/
Some other websites which may be useful to you include:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
and
Family Search: https://familysearch.org/
I hope this helps. Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.
Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
