Searching for information on Patrick McKeon born in Ireland approximately 1814-1818.  I have a baptism record for one from April 1816 in Riverstown, Tawnagh but no way to prove it is mine.

  • Hi, thanks for your message.

In your previous message on the Tawnagh page, I posted a link for you to follow to the Irishtimes website. I'll post it here again for you. It is just an overview of what Roman Catholic records are available in the Tawnagh parish. You may be able to find more information on Patrick in these.

Have you tried looking in the Tithe Applotment Books for Patrick? These are a set of land records pertaining to Ireland between 1823 and 1838. You can search through these at the following link:

Did Patrick emigrate? If he did do you know much about his emigration? Generally more information was given at the point of arrival rather than that of departure. If you knew what city he emigrated to it may help you find more information on him.

In my preivious response, I also put in some useful websites and the contact address for Co. SLigo Heritage and Genealogy Centre, which may be able to assist you.

I hope that some of these links prove fruitful for you. Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.

    Kind regards,
