Patrick Cafferky married Honor McHale 10th January 1856 at Keel; his brother John married Catherine in 1849.
Seeking desendants or any information about predecessors.
Thanks

Hi Col
You didn't say whether any or both of these couples emigrated to Australia. The ships list often give a description of their parents.
You probably have heard that a lot of the Census's prior to 1901 were damaged when offices were burned down during Rising and Civil War.
Here are some of the links to sites that can be used for research in Ireland.
If you look at the 1901 Census it doesn't mention Keel, the nearest village approaching Keel would be Cashel, and there are still Cafferkey's there. The Church in Keel may have been the nearest one to get married in.
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Mayo/Achill/
Further back you have Griffiths Valuations (circa 1850's) where you can locate the landhold of Ancestors.
If you look through this link you will find Cafferkeys in Cashel
http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml?action=doPla…
Prior to that you have the Tithe Applotments 1823-1837
http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/pagestab/Mayo/Achill/
Also a good site with Achill information is this one
Good Luck with your research,
Dympna

Another sibling may have been Bridgit Cafferky, who married one of my ancestor's brothers, Patrick Hart. Bridgit was b. 1817 and d. 4 Mar 1889. They had 6 children: Patrick, James, Thomas (who stayed in Sraheens, Achill Island, Mayo until death), Honara, and Peter. Patrick and James died in the USA.
I've been researching the Harts, my ancestors, and in the course of expanding my family tree, I found this branch of Patrick and his wife Bridgit Cafferky. I hope this helps. I found it on ancestry.com.
I may never remember how to log back into this site, b/c I have just joined. You can find me on Facebook under Marybeth Hart Janerich or email me at mbjanerich@comcast.net if I can be of further assistance.

Hi Dympna,
Thank you so much for your interest! I've been searching for a long time with limited success so when someone with some knowledge takes an interest I get enthused again!
The surviving children of this couple, Patrick & Honor, all left Ireland including my grandfather who came to Australia.
I was aware of the links you sent but will revisit them - particularly the bernie one with the Masterson info.
Thanks again!

Hi Col
Whilst searching for a relative who was a Scripture Reader in Roundstone(see my Mellett family of Roundstone posting on Ireland XO) I came across your posting on Rootsweb County Galway Surname List re Patrick Cafferk(e)y.
I have a book called "Soupers & Jumpers The Protestant Missions in Connemara 1848-1937" which has a reference to Pat & Honor Cafferkey. On the same page there is mention of a Dominic Cafferkey who emigrated to Canada. I have tried to email you on the address on Rootsweb but the mail has been returned. I will endeavour to attach a copy of this book reference to this message. It may be of course that you have already seen the entry, in which case my apologies!
Kind regards
Doreen Prestondopreston
