Looking for info on Patrick Roach, born in 1800 in County Cork. Had a son, Nicholas, born July 27 1833 in County Wexford. The son emigrated to Canada and married Catherine O'Brien (born Sept 10 1837 in County Carlow). They had children born in Canada 1859-1880.

Do you know what parishes in Cork and Wexford Patrick and Nicholas were born in? Most church records are held locally, so in order to determine what registers you need to be looking at you need the parish name. Once you have this it will greatly help you in your search. Have you any documentation that mentions any placename at all-townland/villages/towns?
Do yo uknow much about Nicholas' emigration? Generally more information was given at the port of arrival rather than that of departure. If you know where he arrived in Canada, it may be a place to find more information-and maybe even an exact place of origin. For immigration records in Canada, check the National Library and Archives of Canada at http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/index-e.html
You could also try doing a search for Patrick in the Tithe Applotment Books. These are land records that were compiled between 1823 and 1837 in order to determine the amount which occupiers of agricultural holdings should pay in tithes to the Church of Ireland. If you can find Patrick in this it will help tie hom to a more specific place. Here is the link:
