Robert McILLREE, a Scot?, died Ireland 23.8.1785. Married c. 1767 Frances DROPE, daughter of John DROPE (died 1800) and Anne WIGGINS (daughter of John WIGGINS) of County Cavan. PRONI Belfast Pre-1858 Wills and Admons Kilmore Diocesean Administration Bonds: McIllree, Robert, Ballyhaise, Date: 1785. (Will no longer exists). Robert and Frances McILLREE had three sons: Robert William McILLREE c. 1777-27.4.1848), John Drope McILLREE (c. 1782-11.8.1855) and Henry McILLREE (may have been a clergyman and died Keady, County Armagh. TBC). John Drope McILLREE married Margaret QUIGLY (Jan. 1783-7.1.1846) in 1802. Margaret QUIGLY was the daughter of Edward QUIGLY and a McMAHON. In 1787 Robert Herbert Butler, Earl of Lanesborough, leased the Straghagland mills and Shillin Hill houses to Edward Quigly of Straghaland [at Belturbet], County Cavan. Manuscript RIA/DUC/2/SUN/4, Royal Irish Academy. Know very little about the Quiglys and virtually nothing about the McMahons.
John and Margaret McILLREE had 14 children, all or most of whom may have been born County Cavan:

2. Anne McILLREE (1805?-1823?) may have died County Cavan
3.-6. (four boys named Henry and one name Edward died as infants?)
7. John Drope McILLREE (1812-26.4.1894. An Army Surgeon-General died Bray, Co. Wicklow (married Anne WILSON, Jamaica)
8. Dr Edward Quigly McILLREE (1814-6.1.1894) died Dundrum, Co. Down. Married Elizabeth Jane McCREIGHT, born Caledon, County Tyrone 24.5.1818, died 26.4.1891). No issue
9. Robert McILLREE (c. 1815?-c. 27.7.1886)? died Bray, County Wicklow
10. William McILLREE (26.5.1818-??)
11. Margaret Eliza McILLREE (19.10.1821-7.1.1860. Married John Chambers McCREIGHT (8.6.1820-30.10.1886) on 26.8.1845, Clifden, County Galway. No issue.
12. Frances McILLREE (??-23.1.1871). Married 1. a Captain KENNEDY, 2. Captain John Brice BLAKE on 1.7.1840, St George's Parish, Dublin. No issue.
13. Henry McILLREE (bap. 1.9.1824, Belturbet, County Cavan. Died 8.9.1882, Biggara Station, Upper Murray, Colony of Victoria, Australia. Buried Wodonga, Victoria (Progenitor of Australian McIllrees)
14. Elinor McILLREE (Apr 1826-c.1841). Baptism record from Parish of Anna, County Cavan. Register 35K, page 4. Date of Baptism: 16 April 1826. CofI.
Margaret McILLREE, mother of the above 14 children, died County Galway 7.1.1846. Buried St. Nicholas's Co. Galway 10.1.1846. John Drope McILLREE, her husband and their father, died Claybrook Magna, Leicestershire, England, 11.8.1855. Buried Claybrook Magna 16.8.1855.
John Henry McILLREE, a son of SG John Drope McILLREE and Anne WILSON, married on 15 April 1884, in Castleterra Parish, County Cavan, Caroline Elizabeth (Lily) HUMPHREYS of Ballyhaise House, County Cavan. The couple later made their home in Canada where JH McILLREE joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

He has a very distinctive grave in Mount Jerome Cemetary, Dublin.
