Looking for my great great grandfather, Archbald Gardner, supposedly born about 1822-23 in Antrim; married to Sarah Hazelton; son of William and Lucy Gardner. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
Thank you for your message.
Do you have any other information that you could share? Do you know their religious denomination? Did they emigrate? If so do you know much about their emigration?
You could try searching in Church records for information. Most Catholic records are held locally, however you can see what records are available online at the irishtimes website. For Antrim parish follow this link:
Unfortunately as you can see from that page records do not begin until the latter half of the 19th century. It may be worth your while to look at what records are in neighbouring parishes, as they may hold some records relevant to Antrim from an earlier period. Follow this link to a map of the parishes in Antrim, click on each parish to see what is available:

For Church of Ireland records go to http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/.
You could aslo do a search for Archbald and his parents in the land records pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century. There are two:
The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
and Griffith's Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Some other websites which may be of help are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
The National Archives UK ? genealogy search: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/
The Public Records Office of Northern Ireland http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/family_history.htm

I hope that this helps. Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.
Kind regards,
