I would love some assistance trying to locate information on

Patrick John Regan who was born 1844 in Ballinlough Co. Cork.

He married Catherine M. Dillworth (b 1855 in Ballinlough) on 12/1/1877 at the Chapel of SS Peter and Paul in Cork.

They had six children

John Dilworth Regan - b 9/18/1878 in Cork

Timothy Joseph - b 9/10/1880 in Cork

Anna M - b 3/14/1883 - Wakefield, MA USA

Thomas J. - b 10/31/1884 Wakefield, MA

Michael - b. 2/14/1887 Wakefield, MA

Joseph Harold - b 6/24/1890 Wakefield

The family lived in Wakefield and then settled in Malden, Massachusetts.

Patrick was a stone mason.

Patrick was apparently leary of government officials and quite frequently gave incorrect birth information so it is not clear if he was actually born in 1844.

Catherine's parent's were Timothy Dilworth and Mary Anne Buckley.

Any assistance locating family information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Best wishes

  • Hi Donna

Thank you for your query and also posting your information.  I did a quick search and could find two Ballinlough's. One in Cork City in the Civil Parish of St Finbars, which also lists the Civil Parish of St Peter and Paul and Ballinlough in the Civil Parish of Kilmacabea in South West Cork.

You can browse what church records exist  for both of those parishes and the years they cover by clicking on the link below:

    (Search Roman Catholic Parish Maps)

This may lead you to  find more information on Johns parents/family.

You may consider making contact with the parish priest for the Ballinlough parishes or the local heritage centre which may be able to help you in making a connection to family still living in the area.
