Hi Jack
Many thanks for your reply, Elizabeth died in childbirth, with her son following soon after, so there should be a child also buried in the graveyard he was called Patrick.
My G Grandfather George moved to south wales following Elizabeth's death and brought his two sons and my Grandmother - who was 2 at the time over with him. He later remarried and had a further two sons.
He was a master plasterer and I have found the family in the 1911 census residing at 35.2 Stucker Hill, Abbeyleix, but I can't find the address on Google maps, although I know it exists as there are currently houses for sale in Stucker Hill, Main Road Abbeyleix.
I am very grateful for your reply and will continue with my search for my irish relatives. As a matter of interest, I have an old photograph depicting the staff of Mountjoy Prision, it looks like it may have been taken in the late 1800's, early 1900'sn based on what the men and women are wearing, there are also a few children depicted in the photograph, but I have no idea who they are and how one of them may be related.
Many thanks again
Regards
Eryl

Hi Eryl,
George Francis was born in Kilkenny City in 1883. His brothers were James Joseph (b 1885) and William Henry (b 1888). His father was Henry Hetherington who was born in Castlecomer in 1850. All the Hetheringtons were plasterers. His mother Catherine Kealy was born in Kilkenny in 1849 and died in 1890 when the boys were quite young. Edward left Kilkenny soon after his 2nd wife, Bridget Healy died in 1921. He died in Neath, Glamorgan in 1927.
Henry was the younger brother of my great grandfather Edward Hetherington.

Hi Ger
Many Thanks for your reply, and the information, I will tell my mother, she will be really interested and I will add it to my family tree. I was able to find some information from the census and I have also had some information from this site about my great grandmother Elizabeth Hetherington (nee Haydn) who died in Abbeyleix along with her youngest son Patrick (wife and son of George Francis).
George Francis Hetherington died in Neath in 1968, we used to live in Briton Ferry which is the next village from Neath and I remember my great grandfather and his 2nd wife. My Grandmother (Mary Josephine) used to go back to Ireland to visit relatives when she was younger, she passed away in 1990. I wish I had asked her about our irish relatives when I was younger as getting information is now so difficult.
You mention Edward brother of Henry who is my Great Great Grandfather, were there any other siblings and do you know of any other relatives in Ireland.
Many Thanks again

Hi Eryl,
Henry is the 6th in a family of thirteen. I have all my family research so far documented in Ancestry. My email address is the same as my UserId here followed by @me.com.
If you send an email to that address I can add you to my family tree.

Dear Ger just came this article & am very interested to find out more about grandad George Francis Hetherington. My father David Leslie was the eldest of his two sons from second wife Beatrice. I've been in touch previously with Eryl via another cousin Enid who has since passed away sadly.
Enid gave me some research she had done previously visiting Kilkenny several times , do you live in Ireland?ChrisL
