  • Hi,

    Thanks again for your message.

As I mentioned in one of my earlier responses to you, it will be difficult to find any information on the O' Rourkes without a more specific place of origin. Do you have any documentation from the family that mentions a placename such as townland/parish/village or town?

Do you have any more specific dates in the 18th century that you can share? Unfortunately, the reality of finding documentation pertaining to births/baptisms/marriages/deaths in Ireland prior to 1800 ? particularly in rural areas ? is that they simply may not exist. Some registers for urban areas pre-dating 1800 may exist as there was an increased need in cities or larger towns to document the population. Therefore, the liklihood of you finding records for the family really does depend on where they originated from.

If you have any other information that you can share please do so. Also include what sources you have already used. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you.
