Looking for info or photos related to Daniel Butler and his wife Mary and family , 1851 Census Larne Parish, Larne Town Chapel Street. I am there Great grandaughter and would love to contact anyone else researching this family. My Great Grandfather Andrew Butler Clark was born 1865 in Ireland (Antrim) but this is all the information I have on him until he married in 1890 Tasmania Australia to Sarah Ann Chambers.

Hi,
Thank you for your message.
Do you know anything about Andrew's emigration? Generally, more information was given at the port of arrival rather than the port of departure. The Public Record Office of Victoria has good online databases of settlers at www.prov.vic.gov.au Otherwise, other records may be found in the Colonial Office Papers of the UK National Archives, class reference CO 201. This class contains a wide variety of records, including petitions for assisted passages, emigrants' lists, records of emigrants on board ship, petitions from settlers for financial assistance and much more.
You could also try looking in Church records for information. Do you know the family's religious denomination? Most Catholic records are held locally. One website which you may find useful is the irishtimes where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Larne parish follow this link:
For Church of Ireland records check http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/.
You could also check in the land records pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century. There are two:
The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
and Griffith's Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
You could also try checking the 1901 and 1911 census records for any relatives that may have remained in Ireland. You can search these online here: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/
Ireland Genealogy Project have a very good Co. Antrim page. It gives a lot of information on what records etc are available for the county. It also has a message board. It may be a good idea to also post your message there, to increase the chances that someone will recognise the family or make a connection with you. Here is the weblink:
