Grreat-great granddaughter is looking for information about family members of the O'Donnells/Fahys currently living in Ireland. Thomas O'Donnell was baptized about 1820 at St. Mary's, Clonmel. Married Brigid Fahy in 1845 at SS Peter and Paul's Church, Clonmel.  Their first born - daughter Mary - was baptized in 1847 at SS Peter and Paul's Church, Clonmel. It is possible that Thomas and Brigid may have lived in Waterford City. About 1848 or 1849 they sailed from Queenstown to New York City.  From there they traveled up the Hudson River, Erie Canal and the Great Lakes to Ontario, Canada.  They settled in Durham County, Toronto. Both are buried in the Orchardville Roman Catholic Cemetery in Normanby, Grey County, Ontario Canada.

  • Hello there

Do you have details of the baptism of Thomas O'Donnell c. 1820?  If you knew his father's name you may find it in Griffith's Valuation of c.1851 which is online for free at www.askaboutireland.ie .  You could then further explore that property and family as they move forward in time.

Clonmel is a big town situated on the banks of the river Suir.  Most of the town is in Co. Tipperary but some of the catchment areas of both Ss. Peter & Pauls and St. Mary's catholic parishes are in Co. Waterford.  Clonmel is 30 miles from Waterford, which is also on the river Suir.

    warm wishes to you
