  • Dear Joan,

You have a lot of information & I have found that in my own family that if I go & look at the source of the information & read it again there may be clues that I have missed.  Check out passenger lists, incoming & outgoing from Europe & Canada, findmypast & Ancestry have good lists, pick the worlwide options (findmypast have some free credits at the moment & when you sign up,)if you take out a subscription, cancel it immediately so it does not automatically take the renewal subscription when current one ends.  Get all the certificates you can & read any family bibles, memorial cards etc, this may help you track dow your family, perhaps you have done this already.

I did find couple of deaths at familysearch.org that may belong to william

As a rule of thumb you can guess that the father may be born 30 years before his children.

I looked at the 1901 census at nationalarchives.ie & there are 12 Ball surnames in Co Fermanagh & they are either Methodist or Church of Ireland, both churches should have good records & perhaps if you visit rootsireland.ie & look for those townlands & your details, something may show up.

The PRONI site (Northern Ireland records office) has also lots of information & I have been lucky with their wills index & obtained information that surprised my cousins, as to how they come to obtain their land!!

I hope I have been of assistance to you.  I live in Co. Cavan, which is in Ulster but south of the border.  & if you wish to run any more clues past me, do let me know..

Best wishes with your search.  Carmel O'Callaghan
