I am looking for information on my great grandfather, Jeremiah McCarthy, born abt 1863 to Eugene McCarthy and Bridget Sullivan. He immigrated to the  US around 1887 and lived in Newport, Newport County, Rhode Island until his death in 1937.

I am also looking for information on my great grandmother, Johanna Fitzgerald, born abt 1869 to Francis/Frank Fitzgerald and Mary Sullivan. She immigrated to the US around 1888 and lived in Newport, Newport County, Rhode Island until her death in 1956.

Family lore is that one is from Cork and one is from Kerry, but I don't know this to be true.

I do not know how many siblings Jeremiah had or their names, nor why he immigrated. I have not been able to find his US naturalization papers.

I know that Johanna had 10 siblings, one of whom was Frank Fitzgerald, who also immigated to the US and lived in Newport. I have his birth date as 10 Dec 1865.

Jeremiah and Johanna married 22 Nov 1894 in Newport. They were the parents of 8 children, including my grandfather, Francis John McCarthy.

I would appreciate any help as I have been unsuccessful so far in placing my great grandparents in Ireland.
