Trying to locate Kathleen Gannon born 2 June 1923 Ireland, died 28 January 1973 Wolverhampton. Buried in Gornal Wood Cemetery

In Sept 1939 Kathleen was resident at 28 Penn Road Wolverhampton. Her occupation at that time was a general domestic

I know that she had 2 children, both born in Wolverhampton and both were adopted:

My father John Woodhall born 8 October 1939  Wolverhampton

Her second son, although he too was given up for adoption appeared on her death certificate: Leo Joseph Gannon born 13 August 1942 Wolverhampton.

  • The only registration I can find for June 1923 is a female Gannon born in Dublin

    Name: Female Gannon
    Date of Registration: Jun 1923
    Registration district: Dublin North
    Birth Country: Ireland

As you have Kathleens date of birth I suggest to order her birth certificate from the General Registration Office in Dublin. http://www.groireland.ie/apply_for_a_cert.htm

  • thanks mallow cork, i will act on your advice. Previously, i thought you had to know the mother's maiden name before being able to locate a cert. Also, i had read that registration of births for about this period was a bit hit-and-miss. Are these true, or have i been mis-led?

  • Try it, there is a chance that Gannon is her maidenname, 1923 should be allright to obtain a birth cert, everything before 1864 is hit and miss as civil registration did not start till then
