Verification of Birth/Emmigration

Have you tried looking for Michael?s baptismal cert in Drumkeeran parish as confirmation of his birth there? Most Catholic records are held locally so it may be an idea to write to the parish priest for possible assistance. One website which you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. Drumkeeran civil parish is part of the Catholic parish of Magherculmany. Here is the link to see what records are available there:

You could also try searching at Family Search. This is a huge database of genealogical records that has been compiled by the Church of the Latter Day Saints. You can search this here:

With regards to Michael?s emigration do you know what port he may have arrived at in the US? For information on immigration records in the US check the National Archives at  http://www.archives.gov/research/immigration/

If he arrived in New York then he would have been processed at Castlegarden, you can search their database here:

Also, are you aware that there are two Springfield townlands in Fermanagh? One is Drumkeeran parish and the other is in Kinawley parish. So if you cannot find what you are looking for in Drumkeeran you may be successful in Kinawley.
