Thomas Hanley married Bridget White ca. 1845-46. Their first son, Patrick, was born on 17 Mar 1847 (another reference states 1846). Have not found them in the Civil Registration Index as of yet. The family was Roman Catholic.
After Patrick was born, the family left Ireland for America. They are not found in the "Famine Immigrants" series of books or in other U. S. passenger lists. I believe they traveled to Canada first. They lived in Albany, New York for a short time before finally settling in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in time for the 1850 U. S Census. Thomas and Bridget had at least five more children in Milwaukee: James S., Michael John, Joanna "Julia", Mary Ann, and Margaret.
Bridget died before 1860 and Thomas may have died before 1870. The orphaned children ended up in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Iowa.
I have a lot of information for most of the children and would be happy to share. I really need to find out which county and parish they came from.
