My 3rd great grandfather was Martin Judge born abt 1781 in County Tyrone. The parish name appears on his daughter Mary's marriage record to Farrell Gallaher as 'Ballytaggan', County Tyrone. Illumination about this place name would be appreciated.
Martin married Jane Mullen in Ireland and they had at least 5 children before emigrating to Canada. Martin died aged 91, 29 Jan 1872 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Hi,
Thank you for your message.
I cannot find any reference to a Ballytaggan in Tyrone. I wonder was the name misheard and taken down incorrectly, or transcribed from another source incorrectly? There are some townlands in Tyrone which sound similar, eg. Ballyhallaghan, Ballylagan.
There is also a Ballytaggart in Antrim.
You can see a list of townlands in Tyrone here:

Perhaps it may be an idea to contact a library in Tyrone for some more information. Here is the contact information:

Hello
While researching my ancestors in Ballintacker parish now known as Beragh Co. Tyrone, I noticed a Judge family in the townland of Ballintrain.
This family name no longer is associated with that townland.
This may be of help to you.altadrum123
