My 2nd great grandfather, Jeremiah Griffin, was born abt 1805 in County Kerry. He married Julia McCrohan and had 2 daughters in Ireland before emigrating to Canada settling in Whitby, Ontario some time before 1848 where the 3rd of his 10 children was born.
Jeremiah died 21 Jul 1882 and is buried at St John's Roman Catholic Cemetery in Whitby, Ontario.
His wife Julia's death registration indicates that she was born in County Cork but I've found who I believe is her sister, Mary, who married Timothy Foley in Glenbeigh, County Kerry leading me to believe that Julia was also born in County Kerry.

I have found Mary and Ellen Griffin
Do you have Julia Mc Crohan's possible parents and can you give me the link for Mary Mc Crohan's marriage as this will help me greatly.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Martine
PS What will I call you?

Thank you, Martine. Yes, I had found Mary and Ellen's baptisms and should have included that info in my previous post.
I do not have parentage details for Julia and Mary but surmise (based on the substantial number of other McCrohan individuals living in Whitby, Ontario in the 1800s, that they may be Jeremiah McCrohan and Julia Sullivan. A Denis McCrohan b 1 May 1825 County Kerry, d 9 Nov 1906 Boston, MA, USA married Mary Gallagher b abt 1828 County Fermanagh 26 May 1851 in Oshawa, Ontario (town right next to Whitby).
Here is most likely Mary's marriage to Timothy ('Foulue' appears in Canadian records as 'Foley').

Dear Donna,
here is Miltown today
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milltown,_County_Kerry
Just as a matter of interest there are 8 Mc Crohans in Milltown in the 1901 Census
These are the contact details for Milltown parish
http://www.milltownparish.ie/contact.html
Some parishes can be very helpful with searches in the old registers, others not so much. Do remember that many parishes are being flooded with requests this year and do not have the staff to answer all the requests.
Also have you tried Familysearch.org Sometimes I have found records there that are not available on the Irish church records online.
Do let me know how you get on I'd love to know.
Martine
PS Don't give up!
