I am looking for information on Mary Devine. Born 1826 in Ardee to Joseph Devine and Anne Nulty. They were living in Blackstick at that time. Joseph Devine and Anne Nulty went to Shelburne Nova Scotia Canada around 1829. I can find no record of Mary. Joseph Devine had two siblings that I know of name Patrick born 1792 in Togher and Margaret born 1796 In Togher.

Hi Blake,
Thank you for your message.
Have you tried looking in Church records for information? Most Catholic records are held locally so it may be an idea to write to the parish priest for possible assistance. One website which you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Ardee parish follow this link:
For information on Church of Ireland records check http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/.
There are some online sites that give access to Church records also. You can search for free at Family Search who have some Irish records available. www.familysearch.org
www.rootsireland.ie also have a large collection of records, however you have to pay to view these.
Unfortunately, the only other records available before 1864 are the land records pertaining to Ireland. However, these do not offer any genealogical information. You may find either Patrick or Margaret in the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
You may find them and possibly Mary in the later Griffith?s Valuation found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Civil Registration began in Ireland in 1864, so you may be able to find some record of Mary in these. However, given her date of birth it will more likely be a death records as opposed to a marriage or birth record that she will be mentioned on. Civil records are available from the General Register?s Office in Dublin. Here is their website: http://www.groireland.ie/research.htm
You can search the indexes to these records online at https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1408347
I did a search of these myself and a few death certificates for Mary Devine (born 1826) came back. In order to obtain more information on these however you will need to apply to get the original record. For more information on civil registration and how to obtain these records follow this link:

Some other websites which you may find useful are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
The National Archives UK ? genealogy search: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/
The Public Records Office of Northern Ireland http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/family_history.htm

I hope this is helpful. Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.
Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,

Thanks Emma,
I have tried most of the sites that you have recommeded. My Problem is my direct line left Ardee in 1828 for Canada. His name was Joseph Devine and he was the Father of Mary Devine. She was the only child born (1826) in Ireland before family went to Canada. Joseph was born in 1802 and baptised in the RC Church (Now Furniture store) in Ardee. His Parents were living in Blackstick. He had two other siblings that I know about Patrick Devine born around 1792 and Margaret born around 1796 in Togher. The family had to move to Blackstick before 1802. I was in Ardee last summer was not able to find anymore information on Mary Devine or Joseph's Siblings.
On another part I just came back from Ireland (Tulla) and was part of the RTE show homeward bound which my segment to air in November
