Hi,
Thank you for your message.
If Robert was also born in Mullaghbrack you may be able to find his birth record in Church records. As civil registration did not begin until 1864, births, baptisms, marriages etc. were recorded by the local parish church.
Do you know what religion he was? Most Catholic records are held locally, one website which you may find helpful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Mullaghbrack/Ballymore parish follow this link:
For information on Church of Ireland registers check:
http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/.
www.familysearch.org have some church records available online.
You could also check for record of Robert in the land acts pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century. There are two:
The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
and Griffith?s Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Some other websites that you may find useful are:

Hi Christi - my wife is the 3 times great grandaughter of Robert Johnston and Margaret Britton.
Through their daughter Sarah (1845-1903) married Charles Pennington ( 1844- aft 1921) in Mullaghbrack CI
Their daughter Mary (1874-?) married James Kearney (1871 - ?) Shankhill CI Lurgan in 1893.
Their son Robert Johnston Kearney (1896-1953) married Margaret Bradshaw (1906 -2011)
Their daughter Mary Pennington Kearney (1924-2000) married Francis George Waddell (1924-2001) - who were my wifes - Maureen Margaret Waddell - parents.
Note how the surnames have been carried forward.
I would be happy to exchange information.
The GRO Belfast and the PRO Belfast would be the best sources for the early Johnstons and finding their death, marriage and childrens birth dates.
Regards
David Beck
