The surname of Power is predominantly a Waterford name.    You will need to go back through your fathers birth certificate and guess what year his parents might have married.  You then need to find their marriage record.  Did they marry in Ireland or where you're from.  I don't know what country St. John's NL is in????

It's really a matter of going back through birth and marriage records.  The detective work is fun and there's much information to be gleaned from these certificates.  Until you can find out more information regarding your parents and grandparents papers, then you really are looking for a needle in a haystack, and I don't think anyone over here can help you.

Hope you find the info that is needed and then someone here may be able to shed some light on things.

Unfortunately my fathers parents were not married.He had her last name when he was born.We are in canada.We believe his father was from england but are not sure.My father was given up by his mother when he was only two months old.We found his aunts and uncle but never had any luck finding his mother.Thanks for commenting.
