My maternal great great grandfather & maternal great great great grandparants presumably came to America from County Cork in Ireland and later settled in the McKean county,Pennsylvania,USA area. Names included:
James HYDE was born about 1847 in either County Cork or County Down, per the Pennsylvania 1880 census. The only other record found for him is a Declaration of Intent which was filed in Venango County,Pennsylvania.
James Hyde married Sarah FURIEY,who was the daughter of Matthew & Sarah nee McCovera Furiey about 1868 ,somewhere in Pennsylvania
Sarah presumably was born about 1850 in County Down as were her parents and it's believed they came together to America about 1864,per the 1880 & 1900 Pennsylvania census for Sarah.
Matthew FURIEY,believed to have been born about 1820 and his wife,Sarah Ann McCOVERA was born about 1816...their Pennsylvania census record entries, show only Ireland as their birthplaces.
Thanks,
Marianne

Hi
Thank you for your message. Do you have any additional information on these individuals that would assist volunteers in furthering your research? Do you know much about their emigration? The dates, the reason why they left, who they may have travelled with?..etc..Generally more information was given at the port of arrival rather than the port of departure. If you knew which city they arrived at (e.g. Liverpool, New York, etc.), this could be a good place to find more information. -And perhaps even find out an exact place of origin.
You may want to post information pertaining to those ancestors from County Down on the County Down page of the site and information concerning those who came from Cork on the County Cork pages of the site so that volunteers in those areas may respond to your query.
If you haven't already - some sites that might be useful to you are:
British parliamentary papers on Ireland can be found at: http://eppi.dippam.ac.uk/documents/9824/eppi_pages/215093
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
The National Archives UK ? genealogy search: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/
The Public Records Office of Northern Ireland http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/family_history.htm
Irish Newspaper Archives: http://www.irishnewsarchive.com/
Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.
Kind regards,
