Hello,
I would be delighted to hear from anyone who knows anything regarding Elizabeth McCusker or John Agnews familys in the mid 1800's. I believe they may have been married in Tullylish Catholic Church and went on to have two children - John and Ann in Ireland before leaving for Liverpool.
John senior was my third great grandfather.
Many thanks.

Hi sir the first thing that you can try is this link. ROMAN CATHOLIC:
Most Catholic records are held locally - One site which might be of use is -http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/browse/ - where you can ?browse? an overview of availablerecords per county. If you have any difficulty, you could try writing to the parish priest for possibleassistance.
The next thing you could do is find the counties and places in Ireland your family names are mostprevalent. Look at the website http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/surname/ and perhapssomething will match some other clue you may have found elsewhere? If nothing turnsup ? it is advisable to try different variations of the spellings of the names. If you have a possiblefirst name you could try the Irish Census 1901, 1911 at www.census.nationalarchives.ie/ or the landvaluation record called Griffiths Valuationhttp://askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml Also try these links. The National Archives of Irelandhttp://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/ The National Library of Irelandhttp://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx The National Archives UK ? genealogy search:http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/ The Public Records Office of Northern Irelandhttp://www.proni.gov.uk/index/family_history.htm The National Archives Scotland- family history:http://www.nas.gov.uk/familyHistory/Irish Newspaper Archives:http://www.irishnewsarchive.com/

looking to find descendants of my ancestor James Mc Carthy who emmigrated to Canada in 1816 along with 3 brothers John, Daniel and Patrick and one sister Bridget (?).
They puportedly came from Desertmore Parish in the townland of Kilcrea, Cork County. James would have been born in 1784 and married Honora Ryan who was also originally from Cork. together they had 14 children 10 boys and 4 girls and established themselves as farmers on the banks of the Richelieu river in the parish of St George d'Henriville in the province of Quebec near Montreal ( 37 miles). Suspect that they met and married in Canada.
We are planning a trip to Ireland and would love to spend time in the area where our ancestor was born and possibly connect with other descendants of the Mc Carthy clan still living in the area.
How do we verify that the information we have is correct?
