I have a copy of my grandfather's birth certificate. His name is Laurence Mitchell, born in July, 1881. His father and mother were Thomas and Bridget Mitchell (formerly Gohery) and the place of residence is Coolpora (possibly spelled Coolpowra).
We are traveling to Ireland later this year and are interested in learning more about the famiy.

The spelling of the townland in the 1851 townland directory was Coolpowra.
There were two Mitchell families in Cloonpowra in 1901 and 1911 censuses. looks like the first and third records below are your grandfather's family.

I believe we share the same family history. I've just returned from a trip to Ireland where I was introduced to some new family members. No one has been able to trace the family history back further than the 1901 census. My great grandfather was the eldest son of Thomas and Bridget. Would love to be in contact with you.
