I am searching for information on my grandmother, Josephine Veronica Healy,
DOB Apr 1905 (?) DOD 1971 FL USA
I reviewed the 1901 and 1911 Ireland Census and found a possible connection in Shandrum Parish:
Timothy Healy and Nora (?)
1901 - 3 Green Lane, Cork Urban, No4 Cork (Shandrum Parish)
1911 - Thomas Davis St, Cork Urban No4 Cork (Shandrum Parish)
Children:

Nora 40

*Tim 19 Postman
*Jeremiah 17 Carrige Exam on RR
*Julia 18 Scholar
William 9
Helena 8
John 6
Christina 4
Cornelius 2
Bridget -
(*not on 1911 Census)
1911 - Add
Josephine 8 (Possibly my Grandmother)
William now 19 working Clerk (Iron Mongery?)
John now 15 Telegram Boy
Unfortunately I did not get a lot of information from my grandmother before she passed away. When my parents divorced we lost all contact with my fathers side of the family.
I believe they emmigrated to Jersey City, Hudson County, NJ USA. Josephine married my grandfather, Sheldon Stewart Fischer, Sr., in Jersey City, NJ USA 1928.
I remeber visiting Aunt Lillian and Uncle Vic, children Cookie and Patty in Jersey City, Hudson County, NJ. Also Thomas and Gloria, children Thomas and Vicky Lee and Renae husband unknown. I do not know if they were my grandmothers siblings or how they were related. I was also told grandma's mother was referred to as "Big Ma." We were told they immigrated from County Cork, IR.
I have been researching my famly tree for over 30 years. There are over 2000 people on my tree. Grandma LaLa (Josephine V Healy) is my brick wall. I appreciate any and all help/suggestions/comments.

Hi,
Thank you for roy ur message and for sharing this lovely photograph!
Perhaps you could try looking at church records in Shandrum to see if you can find your grandmothers.
Most Catholic records are held locally so you may need to write to the local parish priest for possible assistance. One website that you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Shandrum parish, follow this link:
As you can see from this web-link, there are copies of these records available in thr National Linrary and Mallow Heritage Centre.
Most surviving Church of Ireland records are still held by the local clergy, although some are in the National Archives of Ireland and others are in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin. Here are their websites: http://www.nationalarchives.ie/ and http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42
Lists of these surviving registers can also be found at the National Library of Ireland.
www.familysearch.org have some records available online.
You may also be able to find her birth record in civil records. These are available from the General Register?s Office in Dublin. Here is their website:
http://www.groireland.ie/research.htm
You can search the indexes to these records online at:
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1408347
Have you tried looking into Josephine?s emigration? Sometimes some good information can be found here. Information on immigration records can be found at the US National Archives at http://www.archives.gov/research/immigration/
Some other websites that you may find helpful are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/

The Public Records Office of Northern Ireland http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/family_history.htm

If you would like to contact the Mallow Heritage Centre for assistance here are their contact details: (a fee may apply)
Mallow Heritage Centre,
27-28 Bank Place,
Mallow,
Co. Cork.

I hope that some of these links are helpful and that you find something that helps you get past your brick wall. Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
