From Tithe applotment Books 1823-37 I found John O'Malley, Deradda, Burrishoole, MAy 1832.  John O'Malley was the name of my great great grandfather, his son Michael J. O'Malley was father of my grandmother, Mary Ellen Beliveau.  I would appreicate any information of John O'Malley - he married Mary O"halloran or their son,  Michael who was born circa 1857.  Thank you!

    Hello Michele,
You could try Griffith's Valuation (1848-64) http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/  to see can you find more information about John O’Malley.

Have you searched for a baptismal record for Michael J.O'Malley from 1857?. Most Catholic records are held locally - One site which might be of use is - http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/browse/ - where you can ‘browse’ an overview of available records per county. If you have any difficulty, you could try writing to the parish priest for possible assistance.

Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.

    Kind regards Michael.

  • Hi,

Here is John on Griffiths: http://griffiths.askaboutireland.ie/gv4/z/zoomifyDynamicViewer.php?file=211057&path=./pix/211/&rs=11&showpage=1&mysession=2326333190222&width=900&height=680 - note that he is listed as Malley. As far as I could tell, all O'Malley's were listed as Malley in the area.

Unfortunately, there aren't any church records for Burrishoole at that time, so the best thing is to use familysearch.org and try some of the Civil Records.  Here's a shortcut to the Irish indexes they have available: https://familysearch.org/search/collection/list#page=1&countryId=1927084

I'd recommend searching on O'Malley, Malley, O'Mally, Mally, etc.

    Good luck!

    John
