Hello:

I am researching my my great-great-grandparents who were married in Termonamongan - Neal (Cornelius) McRory (Born 1841 or 1843, father James) and Margaret Maguire (born 1845, parents James Maguire and Margaret Dugan.) They all later came to Philadelphia.

I am searching for any additional information on Neal's parents or earlier ancestors, as well as birth locations, and the same for Margaret Maguire and her ancestors.

I'm sorry I don't have more information but if anyone might be able to provide more I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thank you.

I looked at the 1860 Griffiths Valuation head of household data for Termonamongan parish. I could not find any McRory records and I'm wondering if the name is McSorley. There were five McSorleys listed including a James in Scraghy townland. There are also three James Maguires listed in the parish: in Killeter, Laghtfoggy and Seegronan townlands. One of these may be the father of Margaret Maguire.

There was one McSorley family in Scraghy in the 1901 census. You can check for Maguries at www.nationarchives.ie

  • Another suggestion is McCrory, found in same 1860 Grifftihs

Mc Crory James Meenakeeran Termonamongan Tyrone

Say "McCrory", easy to write it as 'McRory', by hearing just one "c" letter.

  • Thank you for your note. I'm pretty sure it is (or was) McRory. The name was changed to Rodgers once he got to Philadelphia though. McRory was the name I found on the marriage certificate on familysearch.org, dated 14 Nov 1866, but it's the only document I found. The family history that was passed down cites that name, too, but you never know.

I will also check on the link for information on the Maguires.
