Looking for info on Hugh McClelland who was born in Londonderry about 1798. He married Elizabeth Williamson pre 1826. Not sure where in Ireland. Some of their children may have been born in Co. Cavan. They came to Canada sometime between 1840 and 1846 when their youngest daughter was born 1846 in Pembroke, ON, Canada.

Hi,
An excellent resource is found at http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/surname/index.cfm?Surname=McClelland&fuseaction=Go. which will show you the areas of this last name for the period 1846-1864 Ireland. There are also many other gleanings to be had from this site.
Just happened across the following which you might find interesting http://www.ulsterancestry.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=3262&highlight=&sid=7043318ba0340db14c4c1e0fc8619bdf#3262 as well as the following
A check of Knockbride reveals that this parish is in County Cavan, Bailieborough Poor Law Union.

Griffiths Valuation does show McClelland families in Bailieborough, but not at the first name Hugh. This valuation is for 1847 through 1864, so these families should be connected I would think.
Hope this all helps, Jeanette

Hi Patricia -- I know this posting was from a long time ago, but wondering if you are still out there and found an answer to your question? Hugh McClelland was my great, great, great grandfather. His son David McClelland was my great, great, grandfather possibly born in County Cavan around 1831. I would be very interested in anything you might have found. Thanks, Bill
