My Ancestor is: Richard Gainfort. Richard was born circa 1862. His parents were Benjamin Gainfort and Annetta Sherwood who were married on the 4th May 1860 in St Thomas's Church. Their other children were Elizabeth (born 1863), Mary (born 1865), Thomas (born 1867) and constantine (born 1869). I have found all of their christening records at St Thomas. Richard cannot be found. I am curious as to whether he could have been christened at St Annes where Annetta's fathers home was at 6 bay view avenue. Richard left Ireland and was a sugar plantation manager in Fiji where he married and had his family, and then moved to Auckland, New Zealand and worked as a steward on the shipping lines. If anyone can help, I would be most grateful. Julie

Hello Ben,
We are definitely related. My Great grandmother was Caroline Sherwood Gainfort and she was born in Fiji in on the 13th July 1893, Annette Sherwood Gainfort was born Fiji 2 Nov. 1891. Benjamin Sherwood Gainfort was 1 Oct 1895 And there was also George, but I don't have a birth date for him. I think I may have contacted you before. I live in Levin, New Zealand. I still cannot find Richard, our GG Grandfather, but I have found details of his possible family, he's just being elusive.
