My GreatGrandfather Alfred Leonard Lynch emmigrated from Ireland to Trinidad sometime between his Birth on April 24 1880 and his Marriage in Trinidad around 1902. His parents George William Lynch from Ireland and his Mother was Marie Felicia De Cruz from Portugal. The information I have garnered from past conversations was that he "could" have been born in either Galway,Cork or Clare but even that may be incorrect. I'm hoping beyond hope for a connection back to you Ireland, help me if you can please.

Hi,
Thank you for your message.
Civil registration began in Ireland in 1864, so given Alfred?s birth date you should be able to find his birth record in civil records. Once you have this it will give you a place of origin which will allow you to search further,
Civil records are available from the General Register?s Office in Dublin. Here is their website:

You can search the indexes to these records online at:

Also, here is a good link to a websites that explains how the indexes work and how to obtain the actual records.

I hope that this is helpful. Remember once you find his parish join that page and post your message there. that way our volunteers in the area will be able to assist or advise you. When posting remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.
Kind regards,
