I do thank all for the information sent to me regarding my gr gr grandfather, Patrick Broderick. However I am still without a death record for him.
Patrick Broderick married Catherine Boyle in the church in Killeenadeema in 1836.
Most of the family had immigrated to the Boston area by 1880 when the US census was taken. I have located the following: Catherine Boyle Broderick, sons Michael, Lawrence, and Matthew (my gr grandfather) and daughters Catherine and Mary.
What parishes are near Killeenadeema? Maybe I should be looking for a death record for Patrick Broderick in nearby areas. Any suggestions welcome.

Civil registration of deaths began in 1864. I've identified 5 death index records in the Loughrea registration district between 1865 and 1878. If Patrick deid before 1864 then these records do not apply. You would have to write to the GRO www.groireland.ie and ask for a copy of the death record for the Patrick Broderick in Killeenadeema. You need to fill out the form and provide the registration district, year and quarter of registration, volume and page number. Possibly, if you know his approximate year of birth, you can eliminate some of these potential records.

I do not have a birth record but the marriage record says he was born in 1816. Marriage in 1836 with births beginning in 1838. My greatgrandfather, Matthew, was the 2nd Matthew born, and his birth was approximately 1846.
I have searched for a death record for several years. Have been putting deails in place for the last 7-8 years..
I believe there was a daughter named Bridget. I have found a baptism record for her in Loughrea Cathedral.
The first and last records you posted look to be the most promising. Are you aware of any way to prove either of them?

The death record should provide the name of the informant. That information plus the towland location should provide you with data to prove you have the correct Patrick Broderick.

Roger, can you advise the best way to look at the first death record?

I am looking for information on my great-great-great grandparents, Lawrence John and Cecily (Cicely) Hawkins. I believe Lawrence was born in 1780-85. His parents may have been Nathaniel Hawkins and Sarah Burke (although I have found some indication his father's name may have been John. I understand a family Bible said Nathaniel Hawkins and Sarah Burke.) I believe Cecily/Cicely was born around 1800 and her father may have been named Dominick Joyce. Lawrence and Cecily/Cicely were married in Killeenadeema aroound 1819. They were the parents of 12 children who were all born in Killeenadeema: Mary (1820- who married a Patrick Shields in Kileenadeema around 1843); Bridget (1822); John (1823); Thomas (1826); Winifred (1829); Patrick (1832); Michael (1835); Lawrence (1838); Martin (1840); Honora (1842); Peter (1843); and Stephen Nathaniel (1846). The family left Ireland in a chained migration starting in 1849 after being evicted from their farm. I know Lawrence had a younger brother named Martin who died around 1850 in the same area.
I would appreciate any information I could get. Thank you.

JP Sandford:
Sorry I missed your March 18th query. I just noticed it when this new message was posted earlier today.
The first death index record indicates that a death for a 60 year old Patrick Broderick was registered in the Loughrea registration district during the January-March 1878 quarter. The death is registered in Volume 4 page 270. The Loughrea registration district encompasses about 20 civil parishes in central and south Galway. Let me know if you have further questions.
