Looking for county of origin of Ruhans who emigrated to the United States around the 1840s. Have info that a Ruhan family came to U.S. on the ship Thornhill in 1848, departing from Liverpool. Father's name was James. One of the children was Michael who I believe is my great-great grandfather. Settled in Louisville, Kentucky.

The 1901 census showed only a few Ruhans in all of Ireland. There was a married couple in Co. Kilkenny and three individuals in Co. Dublin.
