Catherine Boland, b. about 1823 in Co. Clare, possibly Ennistymon, was my 2x Great Grandmother; Catherine arrived in Montreal about 1849 and married Daniel Farrell, b. about 1813 in Co. Kerry at St-Antoine Parish.
Catherine's father was David Boland, her mother was Mary Egan. I think she had a brother, David, who was in Montreal when she married. A James Ryan signed for Catherine at the time of her marriage.
The Farrells moved to Toronto about 1859 after the birth of 3 daughters, Margaret, Mary and Elizabeth; a son, Daniel, was born in 1860 in Toronto.
They have descendants all over Canada and some in the US, too. We'd be happy to make contact with any Irish cousins.

Hi Carolyn,
Unfortunately, Co. Clare is the only county in Ireland (as far as I am aware) who do not have their records online. All the other counties can be found at www.rootsireland.ie and www.irishgenealogy.ie
You will probably have to write the their heritage site for help.
regards,

I'll look at those sites right now, Maureeen.
Hi Anne - That's unfortunate info isn't online but the article I read about this site in a local Canadian Irish magazine said that posting here would possibly connect to distant family in Ireland or elsewhere...I posted in the hope that was correct.

There's a lot to go through - some Bolands died in the Workhouse in the 1850s but without more than their names it's difficult to know if they are "my" Bolands.
I was in Ennis once, with a tour group, I did call into the library but didn't really have enough time to do much.
