One of my 2x Great Grandfather's was Daniel Farrell, b. about 1813 in Co. Kerry according to papers in the collection of the Montreal library.
Daniel's parents were Elizabeth Lyons and Patrick Farrell. It has been suggested to me that Daniel was from The Dingle area of Co. Kerry.
Daniel had a sister, Elizabeth, b. about 1820; perhaps they emigrated together. Elizabeth married someone with the same surname, had one daughter, Catherine who I believe did not marry nor have any children. Elizabeth died in 1867 at age 47 and is buried in Notre-Dame Cemetery in Montreal.
Daniel lived for about 10 years in Montreal where he married and had 3 daughters. He worked for the Grand Trunk Railroad - census records show him to be a labourer. The family moved to Toronto about 1859/60 where a son was born.
Daniel built all 4 of his children homes - my Grandmother was raised in one of them.
Daniel took his eldest daughter, Margaret, back to Ireland once. He died in May 1891 and is buried in St. Michael's Cemetery along with his wife, Catherine (nee Boland), his daughter Elizabeth and his son.
His descendants would love to know if there is family still in Co. Kerry.
