I am searching for my Halpenny ancestors. The best information I have is that JOSEPH HALPENNY was born in Carlow, possibly Tullow, in 1760. He married Catherine Styles (b 1771) in 1791, and they had 4 children -- Joseph, Mary (b 1793), John (b 1795), William (b 1797). Joseph was killed in 1798. Catherine, along with some of the family (John certainly), left Ireland and moved to Canada in 1825. I have good information about the descendents, but no information at all about the ancestors prior to Joseph. Would love to hear from anyone who may have information about Joseph's ancestors and/or members of the family who stayed in Ireland.

the church records are to be found between two sites. www.rootsireland.ie and www.irishgenealogy.ie
I did a very quick search and only found one joseph halpenny born 1764 in the parish of Drogheds, Co. Louth
