Hi Karen, I hope I've got your name correct.
The place you mention 'Baltihays' is most likely Baltiboys [aka Baltyboys or Boystown]. There are two townlands named Baltyboys Lower, and Baltyboys Upper which are located some five miles south of Blessington town. They are close to the village of Valleymount. The RC parish church for that area is in Valleymount and I see a Denis Brogan born in 1867 in the Valleymount parish records. In olden times the parish was named Blackditches. You can search the records at RootsIreland.ie. You have to sign up to do any searches and you have to pay to view the actual record.

Karen, Glad I could help.
If you get the baptismal/birth record from RootsIreland.ie would you mind sharing it with me. It most probable has an address listed for the Brogan/Broghan family and I would be interested to know where they lived near Blessington. The neighbouring parish of Ballymore Eustace is in County Kildare and may also be of interest as there was an overlap: some of Baltyboys was in Ballymore Eustace parish up to the 1830s when it was moved into Valleymount parish. So there may have been a tendency to continue to baptise/marry in the 'old' church.
My family were originally from the greater Blessington area and I've accumulated a lot of information about the area. I?ve still got relatives there although I live in Dublin which is about 20 miles away.
Where in America did Denis go to. Some people from the area went originally to New Orleans, while some ended up in Nebraska. The standard belief is all the Irish went to New York, Boston and Chicago. But now we can see they spread out across America.
Kind regards
Patrick Clarke
