Looking for information on George Webster Malone b 1812, and his wife Dora Haynes. Not sure where they were born, but they were married in Cork in 1835, and had children in Kinsale starting in 1836. By 1846 they were operating a school on the site of two dwelling houses at Summer's Cove, Kinsale. George was also a Clerk for the Parish Church of Rincurran, in or near Kinsale.
The family emigrated to Canada in 1846 settling on Garden Island which is near Kingston, Ontario.
George's parents might have been a Anthony Malone who married a Mary S.
Dora's father was a Abraham Haynes.
Any information would be appreciated

Hi Dave,
Thank you for your message.
It may be difficult to find George and Dora?s birth record without knowing where they were born as most church records are still held locally. You could try searching in records in Kinsale to see if you can find any new information. If you could find even their marriage record this may give you their fathers? names.
Most Catholic records are held locally so you may need to write to the local parish priest for possible assistance. One website that you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. It also shows you where copies of the records are available. For Kinsale parish, follow this link:
Most surviving Church of Ireland records are still held by the local clergy, although some are in the National Archives of Ireland and others are in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin. Here are their websites: http://www.nationalarchives.ie/ and http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42
Lists of these surviving registers can also be found at the National Library of Ireland.
Irish Genealogy have started a project to upload church records to their site free of charge. Only a small number of counties have been covered so far. Also Catholic records from the Diocese of Cork and Ross have also been uploaded. This covers only some parishes in COrk, but Kinsale falls under this. I did a quick search myself but was unable to find any records. However if you spend some time at it trying variations in names etc. you may be lucky. You can search these records here:
www.irishgenealogy.ie/index.html
www.familysearch.org also have some records available.
www.rootsireland.ie have a large number of Irish church records however you have to pay on this website.
Have you tried looking in the land records pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century? These offer no genealogical information but can sometimes be used to tie a person to a specific place. Perhaps using their fathers? namesyou may be able to do this.
There are two:
The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
and Griffith?s Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Some other websites that may be useful are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
Genealogy Links: http://www.genealogylinks.net/uk/ireland/cork/index.html
Cork Gen: http://www.corkgen.org/publicgenealogy/cork/
Failte Romhat: www.failteromhat.com
I hope some of this is helpful. Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
