I am searching for any information about my grandfather William Edward Boyce. I think his birthdate was appoximately 1879 (not sure, may be later). I believe he was from the area around Belfast, Ireland (county Antrim, province Ulster ?). He emigrated to Canada around 1900. He married my grandmother Jessie Ross Williamson on 16/05/1917 and lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He had four children. He died on 02/10/1926 in or just outside Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I would like to find out his actual birthplace and any other information about his family in Ireland. Thank-you.

I checked out a subscription site which maintains birth index records for Ireland and found three possible records for your William Edward Boyce. The first record was registered in the Lurgan district of Armagh which is not far from Belfast. The other two were registered in the Belfast district. The next step would be to write to the GRO www.groireland.ie fill out their form and provide the quarter/year of registration, registration district and volume and page number to get a copy of the birth record which would show the parents and townland of birth. Another free site with birth index information is www.familysearch.org
