I am a descendant of Adam Thomas Spence, born in Ohio, USA in 1853.  The records list his parents as from Ireland, but that is all the information I have.

  • Adam T Spence

    Birth year 1853

Spouse Marguarette A. Bowler born 1859 Illinois.

    Father Andrew Spence

    Mother Ann Thompson

Marriage took place in Nebraska, just to make sure I am looking at the right person, is this your Adam ?

If so this might be the baptism of his father Andrew

Church Baptism Spence Andrew 1820 Co. Donegal

In order to find your Irish heritage/ancestors you often need to start at home, talk to older relatives if possible and gather all records that you can find in the country where the family settled, like marriage, death and birth records, they often reveal vital information you will need to trace the family back to Ireland.

A great free searchable site is www.familysearch.org , their records cover the USA, Ireland and many other countries.

Let me know if the above Adam is a match and if you have any other information that can be useful in  our search.
