John Bradfield Smyth born 1859 in Co Cork came out to Australia somewhere around 1875.
He came with his older brother William Smyth.
They changed the spelling of their name to Smith.
Parents were Joseph Smyth (of Cappa) & Sarah Bradfield (of Killowen), (m- 1853 at Killowen). Any information on their parents would be appreciated. Fathers' names were Thomas Smyth & John Bradfield.
Known siblings were Robert (died 1916), Thomas, James, Elizabeth, Hannah.
It is believed that another brother sailed for USA at the same time John & William left, but was never heard from again
1886 has them living at Maulnarouga South.
We have a copy of a letter from another sister, (dated 25/7/16.) she signed it "Your old fond Sister M.R." The address looks like Bingour, New??toun. She appears to be married & mentions Walter....any information on this sister would be apreciated.

I have found a little more information concerning the sister that wrote the letter above....
She was Mary Rebecca Smyth, b- 24 Jan 1864 @ Murragh.
In the 1901 census she is listed at Maulnarouga South with father & siblings.
In the 1911 census, I found her married to Walter Duke & living @ Bengour, Newcestown, Murragh.
Any information on her death & burial would be appreciated.

I'm also connected to the Bradfields--my gg-grandmother was Elizabeth Bradfield who married Michael Swanton. I have quite a bit of information about this family. My Irish cousin, John Michael (Barry) Bradfield and I have been researching them for a number of years. His father researched the early Bradfields of Tullyglass--his write-up of this can be found at http://www.ginnisw.com/Bradfield%20Research/Bradfield%20Title%20Page.html
Barry put together a document that has some information about your branch of the family which I've attached here. There is also another document tentatively tying your John Bradfield into the family of Thomas Bradfield and Anne Varian. They are too large to attach here, but if you send me an email, I'll send them along to you.
