Hi, I'm trying to find the marriage of a Patrick O'Hara and Brigid Butler, I believe they were married around 1827 in Roscommom. I have the church baptism record for their eldest son Bernard O'Hara baptism 15/02/1833, parish Loughlynn which I believe comes under the civil parish of Tibohine. As they were Roman Catholic the only church I have been able to find in Loughlynn is a St Mary location? On the baptism record it list Patrick (Patritii) O'Hara as father, Brigidae Butler as mother. Sponsor James Finan and Mary O'Hara no address record. Have also found baptism records for two other children, Andream O'Hara baptism 23/12/1833 Langhlin Tibohine and Mariann O'Hara Baptism 12/01/1836 Tibohine Roscommon. Any information on Patrick O'Hara, Brigid Butler  and their children would be much appreciate -Shaun

  • Hi Shaun,

Have you tried looking on Roots Ireland for their marriage record? If you can find their marriage record it usually gives the couple?s fathers? names. I did a quick search and found one result for a Brigid Butler that was married in Co. Roscommon in 1827:

However you won?t know for sure whether this is the correct record until you look at it which you have to pay to do. If you would like to do your own searches here is the website www.rootsireland.ie

You could also try contacting the County Roscommon Genealogy Centre to see if they have any records of the family: Telephone +353(0) 719633759 or email inforoscommonroots@roscommoncoco.ie

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
