My 3rd great grandparents were Jeremiah Neil and Ellen Mahony, married in 1835 in Timoleague Parish. They had 5 children there:Eugene/Owen,Michael, Catherine, Jeremiah and Patrick in Parish Lislee, Cullenagh. Ellen Mahony at Eugene's birth was Scimillihane which I understand to be a branch name of Mahony. One more son, Daniel was born in Glamorgan, Wales in 1846. The family moved to Wales about 1845/6 and Jeremiah died 1849. Names of the various sponsors were: Neil (Denis and Daniel, brothers, perhaps?, Dineen, Sexton, Deasy Collins, and Caholane.
After Jeremiah Neil died, Ellen remarried Timother Crowley or Cohane and at the time gave her father's name as John. I believe that Jeremiah Neil's father was Jeremiah.
My great grandmother, daughter of Catherine Neil, lived with her aunt, Catherine Keoghane Ryan in Cardiff in 1881. This Catherine is the daughter of Lawrence Keohane and Mary Barry. I would like to find the relationship between these parents and Catherine Neil.
I believe that Jeremiah Neil left Ireland before the Griffiths Valuation which I think was 1854, but there is Jeremiah Neil land in that. In addition to this I have extensively used irishgenealogy.ie. A year or so ago I was in contact with Nora Hickey and she referred me to Dan Welton.
I would like to know anything about Ellen Mahonys family - or where she was from? I would also like to more about Jeremiah Neils family.

Thank you for all that information! I slowly go through it. I realized that this is a young site; I just hope that it takes off and some day someone connected with my family will see my post. I wonder if there are people living now in this parish who may be distant relatives? I do appreciate any response. Sue
