I am looking for the family of John Guthrie who was born in Ireland in 1791. His mothers name was Elizabeth. John (and Elizabeth?) went to Canada in approximately 1816 to York, Ontario, Canada.
This is all the information that I have. He married in Canada and had 9 children. Elizabeth died in 1851 and John died in 1862 (both in Canada).
I am really not sure which Parish he was from.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you know much about their emigration? The dates, the reason why they left, who they may have travelled with?..etc..Generally more information was given at the port of arrival rather than the port of departure. If you knew which city they arrived at (e.g. Liverpool, New York, etc.), this could be a good place to find more information. -And perhaps even find out an exact place of origin.
